Entry #8
rewired haunted hotel heart
Date: 07/19/1971
Location: Maintenance Control – Sublevel Generator Room
He was only supposed to fix the lights.
The hotel’s west hallway had been flickering for weeks. Guests weren’t supposed to be down there anymore, but power still pulsed through the walls. The generator room — hidden three floors below the lobby — had remained untouched since the closure of Room 1187’s original circuit.
When the tech opened the panel, he found the wires rewired into a heart shape. Soldered in. Smoking. Still warm.
He didn’t report it. He drew it.
His notebook showed dozens of variations of that same heart. Some broken. Some stitched. One had a child’s face inside it. The rest of the pages were filled with repeating numbers:1187 1187 1187 1187
He walked out two days later and left the notebook on the front desk. No one saw where he went. But the lights in Room 1187 haven’t flickered since.
All we know for sure? These logs survived. And they may be all we have left.
