Lore Log #4: The Vanishing Room — From 669 to 1187

Updated: Jul 13, 2025

Faded vintage hotel floor plan with Room 669 crossed out and overwritten with Room 1187 in shaky red ink

LORE LOG

Entry #4

Date: 01/03/1956

Location: Alley Hotel — Lower East Wing (Former Room 669 → Room 1187)

The Vanishing Room

They say the hotel shut its doors in 1942 — but the records tell a different story.

In a faded ledger buried beneath the concierge desk, an entry was found for Room 669. The name beside it: S. Jane. Check-in confirmed. Check-out: never recorded. Crossed out in red. Below it, scrawled in shaky ink:

“1187 – Donor Viable”

The room no longer bears its original number. During a failed “renovation” effort in 1955, the hotel was briefly reopened under private contract — supposedly for medical research. During this time, all rooms were renumbered. Some believe it was to confuse inspectors. Others whisper it was the doctor’s request — to hide which rooms had been used in “trial extractions.”

Whatever the reason, Room 1187 now stands where Room 669 once was. The walls are thicker than they should be. Sound doesn’t carry properly inside. And the maintenance staff refuse to enter — they say the room breathes.

Jack was last seen inside Room 1187. After that… only screams.

All we know for sure? These logs survived. And they may be all we have left.
