Lore Log #5: Donor File Discovery: The Box That Wasn’t Burned

Donor file discovery

The files should have been incinerated.

But one box remained.

Inside: 10 donor reports, each labeled with a number and scent tag — Batch 2A, Donor 0210, Child 1187… The papers were brittle. Some were burned at the corners, others still damp — as if pulled from a flooded cellar.

One record stood out: a donor marked “Story Jane” — age six, incomplete harvest. It notes: “Heart unsalvageable. No further trials recommended.”

But in the margin, written in different ink, someone added:

“Heart obtained. Reinserted. She woke.”

There’s no doctor signature.

Just the symbol Jack used when he stopped signing his name — a bleeding heart stitched shut.

That same symbol was later found carved into the wall of Room 1187, behind a panel in the east corner.

The hallway lights blew out the next night. Three guests went missing.

The staff closed off the annex permanently.

All we know for sure? These logs survived. And they may be all we have left.
