Lore Log #10: Room 1187 mirror mystery

Hidden mirror found behind a wall in Room 1187 at The Alley Hotel in Redlands. A taped photo shows a girl dancing, with the words “1... 2... Daddy’s Coming” scrawled behind her — believed to be connected to the missing child known as Story.

Mirror Mystery

They broke through the wall expecting mold and wiring.They found a mirror.

Behind the panel, mounted in silence, was a tarnished, child-sized mirror facing the back wall. Taped to the glass was a polaroid photo — black and white, warped with age.


The photo showed a girl mid-spin in ballet slippers, one foot lifted, smiling at someone behind the camera. Behind her, on the wall:“1... 2... Daddy’s Coming. ”Scrawled in charcoal. Fresh.


The contractor who found it left that night. He claimed the photo blinked.


The mirror is now stored in a locked sublevel, though some believe it never left Room 1187. Sometimes, guests say their reflections don’t move when they do.
